Objective:Academic journal evaluation is a kind of complex work and involves many aspects. This study probes into the academic level, subject status, influence, communication scope, use condition and recognition degree of readers and authors of Chinese Journal of Hepatology from 2006 to 2014.Methods:Bibliometric parameters about the Chinese Journal of Hepatology from 2006 to 2014, including published papers volume, citation quantity, statistics of authors, paper contents, journal impact and publication cycle, are counted and analyzed through Wanfang database retrieval. The statistics from Wanfang are up to 1, January,2015. Statistics about the received papers are based on the practical situation and the published data in annual first issue of "Editor’s Letter" in Chinese Journal of Hepatology. Meanwhile, there are statistics about the numbers, types, published forms, fund program, references, authors, units, regional distribution and publication cycle of the papers in each issue of all the 108 issues and the main measurement indicators are selected for journal references. The first author and the first unit are involved in the statistics. Apart from the special reviews and expert forum articles, the ratio of funded papers serves as basic statistics. The publication cycle of all the papers is the number of days from issue date to received data.Results:(1) From 2006 to 2014, Chinese Journal of Hepatology totally received 7763 manuscripts and published 2536 of them at the adoption rate of 32.7%, and if the adoption rate of special manuscripts is excluded, the adoption rate is 29%. Contribution source and the adoption rate are both stable. (2) In the published works,376 articles are related to "viral hepatitis", accounting for 30.8%; 196 articles are related to "fibrosis of liver, hepatic sclerosis", accounting for 17.7%; 265 articles are related to "liver cancer", accounting for 22.6%; 351 articles are related to "other liver disease", accounting for 29%. In the published forms, there are 1188 "works" in total. There are 567 "short works",297 "reviews, expert forums",153 "continuing education, lectures",178 "summaries",130 "case reports" and 23 "others", all reflecting the current proportion of liver disease research in China. The short works are dramatically reduced, the length of the works is increased, and the ratio of works is increased, which shares the same trend with other magazines of Chinese series. (3) In the recent 9 years, the ratio of funded papers increases obviously and the ratio of 2013 is 25.9% more than that of 2003. (4) "Impact factors, total times of citation, immediacy index, cited rate, the number of journals cited and cited half-life always take the lead in the discipline, meanwhile facing the fierce competition from other similar journals"; "Impact factor" and "immediacy index" increase steadily in recent years. (5) The average annual volume of published papers decreases slightly. Although the publishing period has been cut down compared with that 10 years ago, in recent years the publishing period is extended. It is a noticeable issue for editors to make the best of the layout to transform information. (6) Regions where the number of published papers is over 100 are listed separately with an emphasis to explain that Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangdong, Hubei, Jiangsu and Zhejiang are key areas for liver disease research. (7) There are author groups who publish paper frequently and regularly. Conclusion:As a scientific and technological journal in Chinese, Chinese Journal of Hepatology is able to report timely on the academic research results in liver disease areas in China and provide retrieval.
