In recent years, with the development of technology and the pursuit of more comfortable life, three-dimensional display has become a popular areas in everyday life and scientific research, and has been widely used in many fields such as production and living. The obtaining of stereoscopic image source is very important for the realization of high-quality stereoscopic display. Computer generated three-dimensional image with its flexible, convenient, easy to operate, etc. gradually becomes an important means of stereoscopic image generation. This paper provides solutions of stereoscopic image generation based on both parallax three-dimensional display and holographic three-dimensional display. For the parallax three-dimensional display, the most important thing is to acquire parallax images. Firstly, We read from the three-dimensional models and design algorithms to construct virtual scenes with the help of graphical tools such as OpenGL and DirectX, and then propose a three-dimensional visual model, under this frame parallax images are obtained,at last we can get different formats of stereoscopic images from parallax images. For holographic display, the key problems is to construct mathematical modeling of the diffraction and to design algorithms to accelerate the generation speed. For the former, we propose many solutions such as FFT,convolution and kinoform algorithm. For the latter problem, an active holographic display is designed, with the optimization of traditional look-up table algorithm and parallel computing based on GPU, the speed can be accelerated a lot. This paper describes the principles, algorithms and implementations in the computer-generated three-dimensional images. In addition, this article also highlights the key areas:cues of 3D display, three-dimensional visual model, mathematical modeling of the diffraction and parallel computing. In addition, this paper describes three examples, three-dimensional terrain rendering, interactive three-dimensional image generation and active three-dimensional holographic displays. Finally, this system was tested in different platforms. It proves that the system has good compatibility and scalability.
