Since the 1980 s, Chinese TV dramas, along with the rapid development of communication technology, started to develop; the audience has grown continuously, and today, 30 years later, TV dramas are an important form of today’s television programs, it has become a correspondent of popular culture. Chinese TV series not only in China obtained a relatively large development and progress, but also continuously entered overseas markets, including Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa and other regions. From the impact of cultural transmission point of view, Chinese dramas’ influence towards Southeast Asia, especially towards Vietnam is particularly great.Since the 1990 s, due to the normalization of Chinese and Vietnamese diplomatic relations, the cooperation and exchanges in the fields of politics, economy, education, science and technology became more extensive and close between the two countries. Chinese TV series, in accordance with these diplomatic relations, started to enter the Vietnamese market, and attracted a large and diverse audience. From the cultural exchange point of view, Chinese TV dramas actually provided a window, on which through the Vietnamese audience can have a better understanding on Chinese society and culture. The title of this paper is "The Spread and Influence of Chinese teleplay in Vietnam", involving the two countries culture. Therefore, this paper from the cross-cultural perspective examines the spread and other affecting factors of Chinese TV dramas in Vietnam, and the further study examines the Vietnamese audience’s psychological reception towards Chinese TV dramas. In this aspect, there is no extant related literature, as a student, I am hoping to fill these gaps in the study of intercultural communication.Present study, used the questionnaire research method on the Vietnamese audience to carry out the research. Present study has four main research aspects: first, the Chinese TV dramas’ transmission channels and methods in Vietnam; second, the Chinese TV dramas’ effect in Vietnam; third, the main types and popular Chinese TV dramas’ in Vietnam; fourth, Chinese TV dramas’ influence on Vietnamese society and culture. The whole research is carried out from the angle of these four aspects, through survey data classification and the combination of series theory of intercultural communication, the analysis obtained results from the aspects of content, affecting factors, etc. in the process of Chinese TV dramas’ transmission in Vietnam. Finally, in accordance with the results, present study proposes relevant suggestion in intercultural communication, with studying how can TV dramas help to Vietnamese audience in complete cultural integration, thus, present study offers a contribution of knowledge, for the historical and cultural aspect of communication and exchange between the people of these two countries.
