China has ushered the 20 th anniversary of a fully functional access to the Internet since April 20, 1994,when CAS(the Chinese Academy of Science) connected the Internet with a 64 K international line. For 20 years, from the keyboard tapping, mouse clicks, to fingertip sliding, the scope between cyber-world and the real world has been expanding, making the human civilization changed gradually.As a new media platform, the network has been accepted by the public due to the rapid development of the Internet and the formatting to the public opinion ecology from new media. Meanwhile, the reflection of real-life social conditions and public opinions on the Internet have become clearer. To some extent, increasingly frequent communication set up a hotbed for the network buzzwords to generate: a large number of network buzzwords emerge, from initial pure computerese to today’s network buzzwords, especially the latter, not only affects the traditional media and books, but also becomes the communicative phraseology in public life, reflecting the different social concerns and emotion changes of China’s Internet user in specific times.Since 2003, Chinese Internet has an explosive growth in Internet applications, in the spread of social networks, there emerges a lot of network buzzwords every year, and the major portals also inventory the top 10 network buzzwords at the end of each year. Therefore, we take the top 10 network buzzwords between 2004-2014(except the Year 2005) for examples to analyze, trying to find out the following three questions: what emotion tendencies Chinese Internet users have, whether their emotions change or not, and what the changes are.
