With the development and improvement of the streaming media technology, the traditional streaming media server has been unable to meet the needs of public. In the new media era, Shenyang Institute of Computing Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences cooperate with many domestic radio stations to develop their own new media interactive broadcasting system platform, which has higher requirements in performance, cost and stability. The mobile phone broadcast platform’s goal is bring the traditional broadcast into the new media era, and the recording clip server is an important part of radio system. In order to improve the capability of the new streaming media server, we designed and implemented a recording clip server, which is separated from the new streaming media server with analysis the function and structure of the new streaming media server. It can record the content of a live broadcast accurate and lossless order by time, meanwhile improves the stability conditions of multicast streaming media server. So the recording clip server has great research value and significance.The work of this paper is to design and implement the recording clip server for new media broadcasting. First, the paper introduces the background and significance of the subject, then researches and analysis the design idea of the new media server Icecast and NFS, MP3 and the related technologies of OGG, meanwhile it analysis the Icecast architecture design idea for the implementation of the recording clip server. We use the modular design approach to implement the corresponding function modules. It ensured that the real-time received of media stream,the right clips and backups of media stream and worked high stable and synchronization.This paper intends to design a recording clip server which could work stable and have good performance by the combination of theory and experiment.
