In recent years, The transmission capacity of optical fiber communication has been more than 10 Tbit/s, but with the limitation of electrical bottleneck, the capability of information processing is far behind the transmission capacity at the network node. At the same time, as the growth of the various business, needing more and more wavelength with information, this will directly causes the ports number carried by the optical nodes in optical connector soared. In order to increase the network node processing speed and reduce the port resource consumption, this paper studies the four layers of multi-granularity switching system with fiber, waveband, light wavelength and optical code, the specific content as follows:Firstly, this paper introduces the development of optical switching technologies, including optical circuit switching, optical burst switching, optical packet switching etc. After analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of them, the analysis and research of the multi-granularity is presented, and its technologies were introduced.Secondly, the four layers of multi-granularity optical switching and its whole system are studied in detail. At the same time, the four layers of multi-granularity switching system routing and resource assignment problem are analyzed. In addition, based on the key technologies involved in OCDMA system, such as the selection of address code,the structure of the optical encoder/decoder are analyzed in detail, selecting the appropriate address code and optical encoder/decoder for the system, and finally build a complete OCDMA system with the simulation software. Imitating the multi-users are simulated, and successfully realized the decoding process.Lastly, this paper gives the four layers of multi-granularity optical switching system performance analysis. With three layers of multi-granularity switching system of port resource consumption analysis and contrast analysis of routing resource consumption, etc. Comparing the four layers to join the wavelength converter multi-granularity switching system with four layers that are not in the wavelength converter multi-granularity switching system. Through the theoretical analysis and software simulation about OCDM exchange module, the four layers of multi-granularity switching is superior and feasible.
