The 21 st century is an information age, and also, it is a time of Internet of Things. In the end of 20 th century, computer technology has been developed rapidly. And then, sensor technology and modern communication technology attract people’s attention, these two techniques are the foundation of Internet of Things. In the Internet of Things, the position of the object is significant. If we can not get the location information of the object,we will not be able to manipulate the perceived object. And the Internet of Things become meaningless. WSNs is the foundation of Internet of things, and in this paper, the positioning problem of WSNs have been studied. In this paper, I first introduced the background of the subject and its current research. Then separately from the hardware and software aspects elaborated the process of the formation of the WSNs. Software part includ the process of the coordinator node establishes zigbee network and the process of other nodes join this network. The hardware platform is built by TI’s CC2530 chip. The hardware includes main control chip peripheral circuits and the RF module part. This paper also studied the ranging and localization algorithms of WSNs. Ranging algorithm used RSSI algorithm, because this algorithm unwanted additionan hardware. In WSNs node positioning, we put forward use the ant colony algorithm. In order to improve the positioning accuracy, we proposed a circular positioning method using eight known nodes to a blind node location. The results showed that this algorithm can give us a certain accurate and stable result. Finally, we give this algorithm an error correction.Ensures that even when the ranging error appears in individual nodes, this algorithm can give a positioning result with a very small error.
