Solid state dual wavelength laser has many unique features, such as small-sized, longer service life, light weight, compact structure, easy to operate and so on. It has a widely range of applications. The research project of Solid state dual wavelength laser has become a popular study in recent years.This paper is to obtain dual-wavelength Nd:YAP laser at 1079.5 nm and 1064.5 nm for the purpose of the study. Theoretically analyzed the threshold conditions to obtain dual-wavelength laser, determined the optimum reflectivity of the output mirrors, designed and built a dual-wavelength Nd:YAP laser system, the output experiments of the lasers were carried out, and the results of the output experiments has been analyzed, specific details are as follows:(1) Simply stated the significance of the Solid state dual wavelength lasers’ research, reviewed the development history of dual-wavelength lasers and briefly introduced the development situations of domestic and overseas dual-wavelength laser.(2) This paper analyzed the chemical, physical and laser characteristics of Nd:YAP crystal. Studied the start-oscillating condition for the 1079.5 nm and 1064.5 nm dual-wavelength laser.(3) Designed the 1079.5 nm and 1064.5 nm dual-wavelength Nd:YAP laser system; built the laser system with Nd:YAP crystal, the pump source, cavity and together with the cold water machine.Operated the laser emission experiments at 1079.5 nm and 1064.5 nm dual-wavelength laser; two higher value was observed through the spectrometer measurements at 1064.58 nm and 1077.58 nm, however, on the charted map of spectrum, two sharp peaks could not be found. Then the results of this experiment have been analyzed.(4) Operated the experiments at 1079.5 nm Q-switched laser, with the output spots recorded on the photographic paper under different experimental conditions; recorded and analyzed the output laser with spectrometer, energy meter, photoelectric detector and digital oscilloscope.
