With the improvement of living standard and increasing of aging population in China, the elderly stroke and limb motion dysfunction, which are caused by cardiovascular disease and other facts, has been more and more common in recent years. The corresponding results pose not only obstacles to the ability of living independently for patients but also a huge burden for the family and society. However, the current rehabilitation equipment usually is too simple in most of the domestic rehabilitation hospital. There is no evaluation criteria defined for the training procedure. And a rehabilitation doctor just can concentrate on the rehabilitation training task of one patient, which is of low efficiency and does cost a great quantity of medical resources. What’s more, the training methods are usually boring and with a long rehabilitation period. Some patients even develop a fault habit for the non-standard rehabilitation systems, which is difficult to correct in later life. To address the above shortcomings, scientific and efficient rehabilitation equipment, based on interesting scientific training methods, should be developed to improve the procedure of the training treatment. This paper propose an innovative rehabilitation system which consists of two parts: Rehabilitation Training System based on the technology of Virtual Reality and Rehabilitation Evaluation System based on the Exoskeleton Robot. This system adopts the principle of human-computer interaction on the original exoskeleton robot, combined with the virtual scene to draw the enthusiasm of patients for rehabilitation training. At the same time, the rehabilitation training and evaluation procedure are combined during the whole rehabilitation period to ensure the effect of the treatment, because the evaluation procedure can provide guidance for the application of the training methods. In this paper, we designed and implemented the coordination walking rehabilitation training system based on the technology of virtual reality, and applied the system on the exoskeleton robot with 20 degrees of freedom. Large number of experiment is conducted to verify the training and evaluation functions of the system. The corresponding results and related data show the feasibility of the rehabilitation system, which is conductive to the rehabilitation training and make rehabilitation evaluation more reasonable and standard. And the proposed methods provide a new guidance for the design and research of rehabilitation systems for stroke patients.
