Nowdays, wireless access technology has developed rapidly. From the traditional wireless Wi-Fi to 4G, it is a trend that mobile Internet develops in the direction to isomerization. Therefore, it is urgent that we need an excellent network management protocols for mobility management. Proxy mobile IPv6(PMIPv6) protocol, as a management protocol based on network based on network using simple signaling for interaction, is very suitable for the development of network isomerization. When mobile node(MN) is moving in the area of PMIPv6, Local Mobile Anchor(LMA) and Mobility Access Gateway(MAG), two entities in PMIPv6 domain, are responsible for MN’s mobile management. However, the handoff of MN in the PMIPv6 domain cause a certain loss of packet, which produces negative influence to communication of MN. If MN can get back the lose packet caused by handover and it is not need for extra network consumption, it has very good practical significance. Therefore, this paper focuses on the caching mechanism in LMA and MAG so that communication of MN can not be affected by handover in the PMIPv6 domain.Firstly, this paper refers to an open source projec based on Linux to build a real PMIPv6 hardware test platform and test the time consumption of registration and handoff process in PMIPv6 domain. Then the paper discusses and implements cache mechanism in PMIPv6. According to different entities, the cache mechanism can be divided into the cache mechanism based on LMA and the cache mechanism based on MAG. MAG can know the way that MN left by the link layer or MN inform initiatively. Therefore, each cache mechanism can be reliazed in two ways, and there are four cache methods. After analyzing open source software realization, this paper adds the caching and forwarding modules, then realizes custom message and modifies the handover process in PMIPv6 to realize four cache methods. Finally, this paper analysizes four kinds of cache method with experiments. The experiment results show: the four methods can effectively buffer the lose packet of MN in the process of handoff, thus it greatly reduces the packet loss rate of the handoff process, improves the network performance.
