PTN has the advantages of high efficiency of the statistical time division multiplexing and differentiated quality of service(Qo S) and other functions. It can provide end to end management, time synchronization, operation administration and maintenance(OAM) and electrical signal transmission characteristics such as level of protection, to solve the transmission problem of mobile communication and large particles business. PTN can be architected on the SDH, and also can be architected on ethernet. The typical application scenarios is the network access layer, so PTN is architected on Ethernet. This paper designs and implements intelligent optical client-side and access PTN device.This paper discusses the overall hardware and software designs of intelligent optical device, and builds the embedded Linux software development environment. This paper researches the key functions: quality of service(Qo S), such as traffic classification, policing, queue scheduling, traffic shaping and so on; operation administration and maintenance(OAM), such as fault management and performance monitoring; linear protection, such as 1+1 and 1:1 linear protection. This paper is mainly focused on the time synchronization function of access device, and has the analyses of network delay under actual network environment. The device applies the IEEE1588v2 protocol, which realizes network device delay correction based on E2 E transparent clock to improve the precision of time synchronization.This paper uses network tester TE100 to build PTN device testing environment, from the two aspects of function and performance for detailed testing. Function test consists of quality of service(Qo S), operation administration and maintenance(OAM), linear protection and time synchronization four modules. Performance test bases on RFC2544, including the throughput, frame loss, latency and back-to-back test. Through the analyses of the test results, it shows that function and performance of intelligent optical device have achieved the requirements of communication.
