With virtual reality technology to mature, safe and efficient virtual battlefield battlefield simulation exercises become a mainstream way. In the virtual battlefield, the special effects with high authenticity and real-timing is utmost important for the battlefield simulation. This paper focuses on the missile-target encounter explosion simulation, and resolved the poor real-timing, the bad authenticity and the heavy workload. It is of practical significance and value in the field of virtual war simulation and war games. The paper studys on the methods of explosive effect simulation at home and abroad, and in-depth analyzes and researches the theory and its development of particle system, thereby proposes a missile-target encounter explosive simulation method based on particle system of OGRE. From the point of explosion effects, appearance, motion and dynamic to establish the authenticity explosion model, and reference mathematical physics simulation. The paper proposes a method based on texture diversity to decrease the number of particles, increase the dynamics and realistic. In order to enhance the dynamic and swaying effect of explosive special effects simulation by introducing velocity field and texture perturbation. The paper proposes a texture selection method based on video textures mechanism, storesing explosion flame and smoke textures to to DDS file, to solve the layered problem of explosion effects. Finally, the paper selects representative missile-target encounter scenes to do explosion simulating experiment, and analyzes the explosive features in these scenes. Then the paper implements explosive special effect based on OGRE, and makes a comparative analysis with the real-world scenarios and the related work at last. The experimental results show that the proposed method meets the system real-time and has a good sense of reality and dynamic at the same time.
