In the process, intelligent car will encounter various obstacles, which are bound to have an impact on road safety, if them can be detected early, and the accurate distance between intelligent car and the obstacle can be obtained in time, will contribute to safe driving and cargo handling, so a set of based on Arduino ranging system for intelligent car safe driving was developed in this paper. It found that Arduino and Android platform had high coupling, by comparison and analysis, and were in accordance with market trends, Therefore, drew up the overall planning : designing and developing the system based on Arduino and Android platform which were open-source platform. providing two kinds of operating modes which were automatic control and smart phone instruction manual control, using both ultrasonic and infrared distance measurement platform to achieve real-time distance when intelligent car is advancing and reversing, adopting Bluetooth 4.0 technology to accomplish wireless communication. After that, software and hardware had been designed from the whole, including features, material selection, wiring, etc. Finally, the software of mobile communication was designed by using Java, besides used Arduino language to develop Arduino gateway. After system implementation, carried out detailed tests. In view of the above, paper has done the following work:First of all, paper made a detailed explanation of their features, parameters and improvement of Arduino board, of which are the Duemilanove series, Nano series, Leonardo series, Mini series and Uno series, then decided to adopt the main control board which was composed by the latest Arduino Uno R3 board above and the ARDUINO XBEE V5.0 sensor expansion board below in developing hardware circuit. Hardware was divided into 4 modules: implementation module, distance measuring module, alarm module and display module, combining with safe driving strategies, and using Arduino language to implement the detailed design of hardware circuit.To complete the Bluetooth device searching and pairing, building communication links and setting up command to control intelligent car, so used the Java language to develop mobile communication software. Finally, the wireless communication between Arduino and Android was completed by the Bluetooth technology.After the test, it showed that performance of the system was stable, the hardware circuit responded fast, the operation was simple, and the safe driving control of the intelligent car was realized. The trend of gradual blending merits of Bluetooth technology and WiFi technology, which is the basis of the optimization of the system, helps to realize the safe driving step by step.
