In recent years, e-commerce has become a hot topic both at home and abroad. There are many successful cases of e-commerce, such as these high-tech enterprises, Alibaba, Amazon, who are with big enthusiasm of e-commerce.With a flat Internet, the e-commerce platforms of different enterprises are facing with problems such as user volume, network traffic at peak hour and the explosive increasing of business data at backend. They all have higher requirements for reliability and efficiency of the e-commerce platform. So, how to search out the product we want from a huge product database quickly and efficiently, and display the product catalog to different customers seamlessly, is becoming a big problem to system success.Aiming at this problem, I did the theoretical research to try to solve this problem, and implementing the system accordingly. Mainly the following aspects:Design the data model based on Column Store tech. Combined with the data compression algorithm, re-analysis and re-factor product master data. Combined with the working principle and characteristics of SAP TREX, a high performance non structured indexing engine. Re-modeling product master data and raise the concept of "configurable product" model. In order to achieve "a fast, efficient e-commerce platform" goal.System design. Based on above analysis and research results, especially on "configurable product" model of product master data, combined with the actual business needs from customers, we designed the main business processes of the e-commerce platform such as “product catalog”, “4-step builder” using WCEM, one product under SAP business suite.System implementation. Finally, we have developed the e-commerce system by using SAP specific ABAP and JAVA language. We verified the effect of “configurable product” model following column-store and data compression algorithm by comparing the performance between new online system and legacy system.
