The Management And Visualization Of Multilingual Marine Thesaurus Based On Web

With the development of the research of marine science, many research institutions had obtained a lot of valuable data. However, there are many problems like polysemy, synonym and multi-languages existing in these terms that used to describe these data, which increased the difficult of data sharing and hindered the development of the international of collaborative-interdisciplinary scientific research.The paper mainly develops the management and visualization of marine thesaurus system to manage the marine thesaurus that has been created based on the classification system construction of the Wikipedia, standardize terms’name and unify the use of terms. On this basis, according to the practical research needs of the sub field of ocean expedition, professional terms which are absent in Wikipedia is appended. In addition, we built the hyponymy between these terms by processing the synonym and polysemy. Finally, we can graphically exhibit the three kinds of relation between the terms in marine thesaurus and realize the visualization of thesaurus by drawing lessons from the design philosophy of concept map and the characteristic of the tree structure.With the construction of the management and visualization of marine thesaurus system, we can manage these terms related with the marine areas normalization and standardization and use the terms effectively, which can speed up the processing of the terms, improve the convenience and applicability of browsing and querying the terms and provide good guidance to the related marine researchers to manage the terms and do visualization work.
