Violent incidents occurs frequently in recent years which sounding the public safety alarms, "Twelfth Five Year" plan has clearly pointed out that the public security is the cornerstone of national security and social stability. At the same time, our country is in a critical period of economic and social development, a prominent period of social contradictions and crucial period of conflicts resolved, and strives to achieve sustained innovation of emergencies’ monitoring and early-warning technology. Therefore, this paper designs a set of remote video monitoring system based on WIFI communication technology, and proposes monitoring and early-warning for emergencies solutions. This plan can be used for real-time video monitoring, grasp the social mood accurately and provide the strong technical support for the development of social security. In this paper, the main work and innovations have made as the following points:1 The overall system architecture designAccording to the features of embedded systems and from the perspective of system to carry out the system functional analysis and overall design, this paper presents the design of the system overall functionality program. This system has transplanted the operating system through embedded development board with Web server technology and WIFI communication and achieved the goal of the remote video surveillance via network in the client.2 System design based on Cortex-A8 processorThis paper adopts the Cortex-A8 processor that designed by Samsung corporation as the main control chip, and use the S5PV210 embedded development board for designing. The system hardware mainly includes the control module, power modules, debugging module, Ethernet interface module, SD card storage module, USB camera module, and WIFI wireless module.3 Software design based on Linux operating systemSoftware design mainly includes three parts, the first part is building the Linux development platform, this part consist of embedded Linux kernel configuration design and device driver transplant design; The second part is achieving the design of embedded streaming media server and Web server embedded platform; The third part is through the developing and transplanting of the Mjpg-streamer to achieve video capture and transmission. Designing the WIFI communication program by transplanting wpasupplicant, and also designed the video capture software.In the end, this paper meets the system requirements by testing the system. Meanwhile the effectiveness and stability of this system also be verified. And furthermore, this paper also summarizes the research work of this system and proposes the further development, points the prospect about this issue.
