With the market demand increasing, the security, dependability, maintainability and lifecycle of the embedded equipments become more and more important. Among them, the maintainability decides the equipment's usability. The working environment of embedded equipments is usually at the special position, such as long-distance and inconvenient traffic, which makes the equipment maintainer face too many difficulties, so the equipment's maintainability is reduced. Thus embedded remote monitoring system with convenient and good user interface is needed urgently. Nowadays, most of the embedded equipments have the broadband transmission interface, the GSM/GPRS, and Bluetooth also come into the embedded equipments. These advantage elements make it possible to settle the problom.Based on the research and analysis about the embedded long-distance network monitor system technologies both at home and abroad at present, the paper proposes the design plan of long-distance network monitor system based on an embedded microproeessor and an embedded operating system, which is based on dynamic data exchange technology and GSM technology, and supported by the network of embedded system, introducing COM port of GSM/GPRS module, syncretizing the B/S structure of Web and SMS , the simulation of this system is carried on by A development board.Firstly, discussing the function and the charaeteristic of the main stream ARM microprocessor, and expatiating the characteristic and the application field of the embedded system in the paper. Beeause Linux can support the ARM technology effectively, and has the characteristic of the reducible kernel, the strong network function, and the open resource code, the design selects the main stream ARM microprocessor hardware platform, and the operating system selects embedded Linux. Through reducing, configuring and compiling embedded Linux, Linux is transplanted to the ARM develop platform of QQ2440, which is acted as the platform of system application. Secondiy, deeply researching the BOA Web server mechanism and the principle of work, the characteristic of dynamic data exchange and GSM technology, and analyzing the design and built of Web server, the dynamic CGI page about data visiting, SMS data transmission. Describing the embedded equipment's whole developing process, from ARM develop platform, RT-LLinux, BOA-embedded Web server to GSM/GPRS wireless communication module. When the design is completed, a user can monitor the long-distance equipment both on the terminal browser and on the GSM mobile equipment, thus the long-distance monitor function is realized.
