With the increasing complexity of the modern battlefield radar electromagnetic environment, the traditional pulsed radar signal sorting methods, whose core are the five parameters such as carrier frequency, pulse amplitude, arrival time, pulse width, and angle of arrival, can no longer meet the new battlefield needs and new sorting methods is urgent to study. Starting from the traditional method, this paper first researched the principles and shortcomings of traditional algorithms to improve the traditional algorithm to adapt to the current environment of radar signals; then various types of signal sorting methods based on internal pulse modulation characteristics are introduced and detailed researches on the potential wavelet transform is conducted, which resolved the problems to obtain a stronger sorting performance and greater application value.The main contents are divided into four parts:1. This section first researched the main causes of complex electromagnetic environment and analyzed the various parameters of the radar pulses, and then introduced radar signal sorting systems and reconnaissance systems. The research methods and applications of radar signal sorting technology are elaborated in general.2. As the key part of traditional sorting methods, the signal sorting method based on pulse repetition interval is studied in this section. An improved algorithm based on sequence difference histogram method(SDIF) is proposed by analyzing the related principles of dynamic expansion method, histogram method and PRI transform method. This improved method can sort PRI dither signal accurately and maintain a smaller amount of calculation by introducing overlapping PRI box thinking, potential PRI value estimate method and the improved sequence retrieval method. Detailed simulations verified the accuracy and feasibility of the improved algorithm.3. Radar signal sorting methods are studied from in-pulse modulation characteristics. This section mainly analyzed signal recognition technology and extraction method of both in-pulse intentional modulation characteristics and in-pulse accidental modulation characteristics signal recognition technology. The full recognition of the existing radar signal sorting technology and deep understanding of the frontier radar signal sorting methods are both obtained by the researches of two aspects above.4. An adaptive wavelet ridge extraction method based on Morlet wavelet and intentional modulation type identification method are both proposed in this section, which resolved the difficulties in selecting wavelet parameters when applied wavelet transform into Radar signal sorting process. By the analysis of wavelet ridge algorithm, this method set the result of iterative computing as the feedback to adjust the shape parameter of Morlet wavelet, in order to make the wavelet parameter adjusting adaptively in a variety of signal conditions. Simulation results show that this method can extract all kinds of signal wavelet ridge accurately at the same initial parameters conditions, and have a higher probability of detection and noise suppression compared with the traditional algorithm. After modulation identification algorithm, it achieves higher success recognition rate.
