It is necessary for ELINT System and ESM System to have the ability to analyze and process all kinds of special radar signals quickly and correctly in order to meet the requirement of the electronic war in the future. The reliability and processing speed to de-interleave and identify radar signals can be improved by means of modulation character.As a familiar pulse compression signal, the binary phase coded signal and the linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal, the spectrum of LFM and BPD are discussed, and then wavelet theory is introduced to intra-pulse analysis with emphasis on time-frequency analysis of radar signal. Then some usual methods of intra-pulse characters analysis are introduced in detail. Their characters, advantages, disadvantages and the application scope are given with computer simulation.In the arithmetic for model identification, which synthesizes wavelet transform and short time Fourier transform is proposed. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.Then using the wavelet transform to get the instantaneous frequency of LFM signal is proposed. We can deduce the characteristic of LFM signal through the wavelet transform of instantaneous frequency. This method is conformed by computer simulation successfully and exactly.
