Nowadays, the T/R module trends to have better performance, smaller volume and lighter weight, which is pushed by the growing milimeterwave technologies and system targets. In the aspect of Ka band T/R module integration, the traditional planar brick type owing huge size and low effect, is gradually replace by three-dimensional tile type. However, the three-dimensional integrated T/R module designs have many difficulties in circuit wiring, signal isolation, signal transmission and integration. Those severe EMC problems are the difficult points and critical points of T/R module design. To meet the requirement of smaller volume, higher frequency and reliability of T/R module design tendency, the task is focus on analyzing and improving EMC problem. The main content of this paper are as follows:This paper introduces the background of the task, including milimeterwave system feature, T/R module development and T/R module EMC research progress. It also introduces EMC basic definition, three factors of EMI, EMC modeling algorithm and some common EM-simulation software.EMC analyses are carried out on multiple channels Ka band T/R module. Based on integration form, brick style and tile style, EMC analyses are including packaged cavity resonance, shielding effectiveness on the aperture, crosstalk between signals transmit route, discontinuity of transmit line, switch noise of the control circuit.T/R module EMC simulation and improvement are employed. Cavity resonance and shielding effectiveness of the aperture are simulated and analyzed to select proper package size for a Ka band two-channel birck style T/R module. Using metallic via to gets better grouding, the CB-CPW and fuzz button connector are designed for Ka band vertical interconnection. The UCR-EBG is proposed to eliminate simultaneous switch noise. Differential signaling is applied to improve the quality of the signal transmission. UCC-EBG is designed to suppress the propagation of surface wave, increasing the isolution of different transmission routes in T/R module. UCC-EBG is also be used in antenna array to decrease coupling.
