Wireless sensor network is a self-organizing network comprised of a large number of inexpensive wireless sensor nodes, which combines computing, communication technology and sensor technology and it can implement real-time monitoring, sensing and collecting a variety of environmental or the information of monitoring object through a variety of integrated micro-sensor collaboration. The information is transmitted wirelessly and in multi-hop networks and sent to the user terminals so as to achieve monitoring of target region. This makes the wireless sensor network a very broad application prospect and attracts much attention of academia the military departments and industry in and abroad. There are many localization algorithms proposed by researchers, but most of the algorithms without extra equipment are low accurate. According to the problems in the algorithms, the foundational technology includes the structure and particularity of wireless sensor networks is discussed in this paper. Then this paper introduces and analyzes the pros and cons in several classical algorithms of range-free and range-based technology. The main content in this paper is proposed below:The improved APIT algorithm is proposed in this paper. We discusses the principle and improvable point in traditional APIT algorithm in order to increase the localization accuracy. Experiment results show that the improved APIT algorithm indeed enhancces the accuracy of localization than traditional APIT algorithm. Moreover, this paper proposed the implementation methods proposed zigbee protocol with the fit of positioning surface water, and proposed centroid localization algorithm based on RSSI trial on water. By comparing a large number of experiments to verify the positioning algorithm on the water environment and other environment, we get relatively accurate positioning results for sparse surface sensor network applications.
