The fuel quantity and fuel consumption measurement control system used on some ground test equipment platform(hereinafter referred to as the platform)is an integrated gauging system and is designed to measure and indicate platform fuel load, and provide operators, other platform systems and equipment with the information concerning the fuel remainder and fuel measurement. Also, it can perform an automatic control on refueling and fuel consumption of the platform. The paper gives a detail introduction to the system measurement principle, technology and the construction of the software and hardware on the basis of the development of the fuel quantity and fuel consumption measurement control system used on some updated platform.The fuel quantity and fuel consumption measurement control system is characterized by the advanced design, complete function and the combination of the fuel quantity measurement and fuel consumption measurement. It improves the measurement accuracy by aids of many new technologies and advanced design concepts. It accomplishes the combination of fuel measurement and control, performs automatic control on refueling and fuel consumption of the platform and fills the domestic gap in the field. It not only relieves operators from much workload, but also greatly improves the efficiency of operation and maintenance. It well grounds the further development of the fuel quantity and fuel consumption measurement control system.The fuel quantity and fuel consumption measurement control system uses various fuel sensors, including capacitance type fuel quantity probe, tank unit with compensator, magnetic control liquid level sensor, inductive type liquid level sensor, fuel flow transmitter and temperature sensor. Signals concerning fuel height, permittivity, liquid level, fuel consumption, fuel temperature from the sensors mentioned above are provided and sent to signal conversion circuit in the electronic components(e.g. fuel consumption assembly, check and control console, display driver, automatic controller) so as to achieve accurate fuel measurement and proper control. The system adopts updated fuel gauging concept, balanced LC A.C measuring bridge and combines monolithic processor gauging technology. Compared with the previous version, such design provides lighter weight and better performance. Also, capacitance type fuel quantity probe with variable diameters and fully new construction design is first applied to the system. Such design resolves many issues caused by the application of plastic tube coated with copper, improves the capability on EMI and the operating performance of the component or system.The application of computer technology to the fuel quantity and fuel consumption measurement control system facilitates the retrofit and upgrade of the integrated system due to the performance improvement of the platform equipment. Although the paper adopts MCS51 series monolithic processor, the design concept of the integrated system has approached to the advanced foreign design concept on the field of fuel measurement control system. It not only performs fuel density measurement and temperature compensation, but also improves accuracy on fuel measurement under different environment conditions. Besides, it performs the perfect combination of fuel measurement and control by the aid of advanced design. It can perform automatic control on preference order of the fuel consumption according to the specific requirement and perform the automatic control on refueling according to fuelling mode option. The system achieves information exchange among the bus, and information share between other platform systems and equipment(recording equipment, warning systems etc.).The fuel quantity and fuel consumption measurement control system has been successfully developed and has been verified for compliance with the requirements for the technical features. Also, the satisfactory performance has been verified by the service. It demonstrates our capability in developing the fuel measurement and control system has been upgraded to a new stage.
