In recent years, with Chinese government pay more attention to the education in remote western region, the size of the colleges and universities in Northwest Ethnic Regions is expanding. In this case, the change of the number of books, the number of readers and the carrier of services of the libraries in these colleges and universities are match with the environmental changes. On the other hand, faced with a huge amount of information, the poor flexibility of the original system is insufficient to use the new information technologies. Since the shortcomings in library services and management process, the prominent contradictions are increasing. Therefore, it is urgent need to provide a new information management system which has well expansibility and architectural pattern. Based on above, in this paper, we design the Ningxia Normal College’s library information management system. By using of the UML model design and modeling tool-Office Visio 2007, the development platform-Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, the development language-ASP.NET, Visual C# and the relational database design and management software- SQL Server 2005, we implement the Ningxia Normal College’s Library Information management system based on B/S(Browser/Server) framework. More precisely, we design and realize different function modules from three classes of users. The effective integration of library resources information services are able to maximize the optimization of existing service processes, and strive to enhance library services ability and management level.The main contents of this paper are as follow: First, we introduce the background and significances of Ningxia Normal College’s information management system, review the progress and current status of research on library information management system, and further discuss the necessity and the value of our works. Secondly, we propose the technology and framework used in the system, which including: UML modeling, B/S framework, ASP.NET development language, and SQL 2005 etc. Thirdly, by use of UML diagrams, we respectively analyze the functions and service flow, establish the requirements model of the system and derive the technical performance and index. Fourthly, by using of use case model, we analyze the functional requirement and the use case modeling for three classes of users from different users’ s view of point. Moreover, we analyze and conclude the data form used in the development process of Ningxia Normal College’s information management system, obtain the detailed data dictionary and uniformly regulate the data structure of the system. Fifthly, in the system implementation and testing stage, the system implementation includes a detailed implementation and testing of functional modules. We display the system interface and realization of each function module from the role of reader, library systems and system administrators. Moreover, we carry out the data functional test. Basically, the system has achieved the desired effect. Finally, we discuss the characteristics, innovation and the lacks of the system, and propose the research prospects for further work.
