With the development of large-scale digital integrated circuit, video image superposition and fusion technology is widely used in military command, video monitoring, aerospace, video conferencing and many other fields. At present, most of the video image superposition and fusion technology is based on the special superposition chips, by which the resolution of the video signal supported is low. Therefore, to achieve high-resolution real-time video signal superposition and fusion is of great significance.This paper has designed and achieved a high-resolution real time video processing system based on ARM+FPGA and realizes the superposition and fusion of multichannel high-resolution VGA video signals. The input video signal will be conversed from analog signal to digital RGB signal through the A/D converter circuit, and then be delivered into FPGA for real time preprocessing and superposition and fusion of video image. In the end, the processed video signal is output into D/A converter circuit for Digital-to-Analogue Conversion to achieve the VGA output.The main work this paper accomplished includes as follows:1. Designed and achieved a hardware circuit of high-resolution real time video processing system based on ARM+FPGA, mainly includes VGA matrix unit circuit, A/D converter circuit, D/A converter circuit, ARM control unit circuit, SDRAM storage circuit, serial communication circuit, system power supply circuit and so on.2. Accomplished the design of relative software relating to video processing system, mainly includes the design of VGA display control module, the design of SDRAM controller module, the design of serial communication module and so on, among them the design of SDRAM controller module is emphasized.3. Mainly analyzed some image processing algorithm used in the video processing system, mainly includes image real time contrast enhancement algorithm, image real time zooming algorithm, image superposition and fusion algorithm and so on. With regard to the aforementioned algorithms this paper presents their Matlab simulation diagram, software implementation diagram and experimental result testing diagram in hardware platform.Through testing and verification, this system can do real time superposition and fusion on the input video signals of different definitions, and when pixel clock is 148.5MHz and image resolution is 1920*1080, the output image of this system is good and stable.
