High-power microwave plays a important role in many fields, which has promoted greatly the development of all the aspect of the high power microwave weapons, high power radar and the plasma heating.HPM systems mainly consist of high power directional emission, transmission technology, high power electromagnetic pulse generation technology, the generation technology of relativistic electron beam.HPM transmission systems are mainly studied in this thesis. This system includes mode converter and taper. Mode converter mainly realizes the conversion from one mode to other mode, but the taper realizes mode transmission. In this thesis, we mainly analyze TE01-HE11 mode conversion system, which include TE01 taper, TE01-TE11 mode converter and TE11-HE11 mode converter. The taper and converter are designed and under test.The main work of this thesis are as follows:1. Based on Maxwell’s equation and the orthogonal normalized vector theory, the coupled wave equation and the corresponding coupling coefficient expression of axis bend and radius tapered waveguide are derived respectively.2. Based on above coupled wave equation and corresponding coupling coefficient and MATLAB platform, relevant numerical calculation program are written and all the calculation are verified by the Commercial Microwave Studio CST Software. Moreover, the calculations and the simulations are well agreement.3. By the analysis of the radius tapered waveguide, the design theory of the taper are deprived. A TE01 mode taper with the work frequency 24.13 GHz is designed in this thesis, and numerical calculation are made by relevant code-written. At the same time, the optical design is simulated by CST, and compared with the calculations, the calculations and the simulation results are well agreement. The taper is designed and tested. Besides,a TE01 mode bend with the work frequency 27.93 GHz is designed in this thesis, All the calculations are verified by the Commercial Microwave Studio CST Software. The simulation results show that the bend can perfectly realize the transmission of the TE01 mode.4. A TE01-TE11 mode converter with the work frequency 24.13 GHz is designed. Numerical calculations are made by relevant MATLAB code-written and relevant simulation is made by the Commercial Microwave Studio CST Software. The calculations and simulation results are well agree. Moreover, the TE01-TE11 mode converter is designed and tested.5. Based on the method of the generalized scattering matrix, a TE11-HE11 mode converter with the work frequency 24.13 GHz is studied in this paper. The converter structure is simulated by the Commercial Microwave Studio CST Software. And the simulation results shows that the TE11-HE11 mode converter can realize the TE11 mode convert to the HE11 mode perfectly. Moreover, the TE11-HE11 mode converter is designed and tested.
