With the development of market economy and the increasing competition between en-terprises, how to make enterprises more competitive and has become the focus of all the en-terprises. A comfortable office environment will help promote the efficiency of the workers and benefit the physical and psychological health of the workers. A comfortable office envi-ronment will help to make enterprises more competitive from both short term and long term. In the IT industry, where there is the fiercest competition, enormous amount of money has been invested in the construction of comfortable office environment.The degree of physical comfort is a comprehensive reflection of human body on the me-teorological factors such as temperature, humidity and speed of wind. Maintaining surveil-lance on the degree of physical comfort is maintaining surveillance on various kinds of envi-ronmental parameters, while surveillance on the environment is a typical application of wire-less sensor network (WSN). The application of WSN technology can easily realize large-scale, real-time, rapid and precise surveillance on the environment.In this paper a surveillance system based on WSN has been developed to monitor the degree of comfort of the office environment. This system is used to realize the surveillance on environmental parameters and guarantee a comfortable office environment. The system mainly consist of a server, nodes to collect temperature and humidity data and sink nodes, etc. The nodes for the surveillance of the temperature and humidity are spread in offices, collect-ing various data on the spot and transmit the data to the sink nodes by means of wireless channels. The sink nodes will save the data in the data bank server and the surveillance soft-ware will withdraw and display the data. The nodes for temperature and humidity collection mainly consist of an 8-digit low consumption ATmega1284P single chip, an AT86RF230 ra-dio-frequency chip and an SHT11 temperature and humidity sensor. This paper has provided a hardware circuit design and developed a program for collecting node data based on Contiki Open-source WSN operating system. In the environment of Eclipse, the Contiki operating system has been successfully compiled and the drive program has been written for the hard-ware platform. The development platform based on the Contiki operating system and WSN nodes has been set up. In order to real-time display the collected data on the computer, a sur-veillance program based on C#, SQL Server to collect, process, save and display the tempera-ture and humidity data and the development of system for the surveillance of the degree of comfort in the environment of offices has been completed.
