In recent years, with the continuous improvement of people’s living standard, the catering industry has encountered a rapid development period. And at the same time, the competition between catering enterprises becomes more and more intense. However, the daily running of the traditional catering enterprises still all depend on human, from the employee information management, customer ordering to checkout, basically by manual operation. Thus, it will inevitably result in the waste of human resources, and also incurs the happending of errors at the same time, leading to low management level and service quality. Has been imporved with the development of information technology, the use of software system has become an inevitable choice for catering enterprises to develop business. The traditional catering enterprise, in parcular, urgently need a kind of accurate and efficient software management system to guide its development. Throught the software system to manage the catering enterprises’ daily operation, on one hand, improve the sevice quality of the enterprise, on the other hand, perfect the enterprise’s personnel management, and improve the work efficiency by the way.As a part of computer application, the use of software system to manage catering enterprises’ information, has incomparable advantages than manual management, such as high accuracy, retrieval speed, high reliability, low cost. These advertages can greatly improve the competitiveness of the catering enterprises, and also perform as an important embodiment of enterprises’ practice of the scientific outlook on development.This paper explores the design and implementation process of the embedded catering software, is committed to develop a convenience catering system used by both customers and managers. The main technical means adopted include the ARM9-based architecture development board design, the transplantation of the embedded Linux operating system, the wireless communication technology and the embedded database technology, etc. The article proposed a prototype design of the electronic ordering system, to satisfy the different requirements of the consumers and manages, including ala carte, restaurant business information management, booking information management, employee information management, order information management, etc. Although only a prototype is designed, the function of the system is also not complicated, and there are lot of room for improvement and expansion. But what is certain is that, such a system software will be widely used in the catering enterprises.
