A Video-Capturing System Desgined Based On Embedded Linux

Along with the development of information technology, the computer industry has already arrived in the ages, so called PC-after ages. The embedded system gets more and more emphasises and researches with embedded system applying to all kinds of industry, especially on field bus, information appliances, top boxes and so on extensively. The embedded Linux is derived from the Linux family, it supports most kinds of embedded processors and takes a lot of advantages of UNIX. So it becomes the current essential embedded operation system.The paper selected the Dragon Ball as the embedded processor, which is produced by Motorola Corp. as multi-media embedded processor with the ARM920T core, and takes the embedded Linux as operating system. It studied on an application of the Video-capturing on embedded system. Based on the discussion of the concepts, feature, hardware and software of the embedded operation system, the paper focused on the following research works:It analyzed the development trend of the technology, the definition, classification and present conditions of the embedded system. Passing the merits and shortcomings of more analytical of several in common used embedded operation systems, it choosed embedded Linux as the operation system.It introduced the characteristic of Linux, the development environment and tools of the embedded operation, the layer and the called relation, the running environment and the common tools. It introduced the advantages and shortcomings also and analyzed how to cut and order the mini-core of embedded Linux.Based the demo board of Motorola's Dragon Ball embedded processor, on the embedded Linux operation system, the paper studied how to add new devices to system, and presents the way and rules of developing new device drivers. At last, the paper programmed new device driver of CMOS sensor, for carrying out the high speed capture image. In the way of data processing and transferring, it sets up video sever on the basis of the embedded operation system, the H. 263 codec as the core, sending data by RTP of stack TCP/IP.
