Machine vision systems is through the machine vision image pickup device CCD or CMOS sent image signal converted into the target signal to a dedicated image processing system, according to the pixel distribution and brightness, color and other information, change into a digital signal. In machine vision systems, lens is mainly responsible for imaging object on Photosensitive surface of image sensor,But the fixed-focus lens can only achieve the best monitoring results at its focal length,Only to increase the number of cameras, or use of the zoom lens can monitor long distance and greater range.In this paper, for a study of machine vision in the optical system, first introduced the machine vision technology and current situation of domestic and international research, then focuses on the zoom lens optical system design, described the basic concept of zoom lens and the requirements must to meet in zoom process in detail, introduction the classification about zoom system, emphasis analyzed the sports of mechanical compensation zoom system, then aim to some specific situation while different magnification are required but working distance remains unchanged during production, according to the design requirements determined the optical lens design specifications, mechanical compensated zoom is adopted,using Zemax to design a visible multifocal zoom lens system, Study design method for zoom system, gives the design results. Finally, do the tolerance analysis and ghost image analysis according to design results.
