The function of digital TV has become more and more rich and the whole machine application demand of software function tends to be complicated, so we need advanced operating system to support these advanced software application. Therefore, the development of digital TV SoC which has a set of software development plays an important part in product development. Mainstream digital TV SoC chip function mainly includes analog TV demodulation and decoding function, digital TV demodulation and decoding function, multiple format audio and video decoding function, high-definition video post-processing and etc, and what is important is that high-definition video decoding is the core of the digital television technology. Due to the complexity of the high-definition video coding, the traditional CPU decoding consumes a great deal of computing power. Thanks to the hardware decoding circuit in hardware decoding, it greatly reduces the CPU usage.Firstly, the paper introduces the software system of the high-definition digital TV SoC Chip HS3XXX, and analyses the driven framework of decoding module. Secondly, based on VPU decoding hardware circuit and the system platform of HS3XXX software, the thesis encapsulates the VPU API in order to adapt to the upper and lower interface of the HS3XXX platform and completes the software code transplantation on HS3XXX platform. Taking an example of mpeg-2, the thesis focuses on the interaction mechanism between VPU and host application. What’s more, the paper completes the design and implementation of bitstream inputting, a sequence in the process of decoding initialization, decoding display output and etc. Based on it, the paper debugs other format ES flow. Finally, this thesis sets up the test platform and crossing compile environment and completes decoding module debugging and function verification. The result shows that this design can support multiple standard video decoding and broadcasting in real time. The design enables the whole TV support for multimedia and plays an important part in Linux multimedia development.
