Research Of Billing Strategy In Cloud Computing Based On Utility

With the integration and development of computer and communication, cloud computing brings a huge change to production methods, whose rise makes the IT industry service model become flexible. It achieves a shift from purchasing to hiring IT resources, and computing power can circulate through the Internet."How much to use, how much to pay" comes into being. A mature and flexible cloud billing mechanism will determine users’ fate and become a catalyst for cloud computing commercialization. Most of the billing mechanisms are single strategies duration-based or usage-based, and they don’t combine the billing strategy with service level agreement. Thus, above situation ignores differences between actual resources ISPs providing and requirements users proposing in SLA, which leads to the error between used resources and users’ expectation. Aiming at above problems, the utility will be defined by existing errors and the billing strategy based on utility will be studied in details.By analyzing existing billing factors and mechanisms, and given that above mentioned problem, this article designs the cloud computing billing management platform that is a fair and reasonable platform. After dividing the framework integrally, functional modules are designed and described in detail. Meanwhile, the relationship of various modules is analyzed. The SLA negotiation module, resource pricing module and monitoring module are introduced intensively and improved accordingly, which makes the cloud billing strategy based on utility can be implemented on the platform, including auction-model resource pricing, improved SLA management framework and fine-grained and hierarchical monitoring of resource. Besides the definition of utility and calculation method are introduced, the billing strategy based on utility is proposed and the billing process, parameters definition, service violation are described, which makes accounting results satisfy the SLA requirement in great degree, so as to cost savings for users. Combined with the proposed billing strategy and characteristics of service model, this strategy is applied to IaaS platform and application on IaaS platform.A simulation experiment is done, and the established platform and process of comparative experiments are given. The utility-based billing strategy has a higher superiority and feasibility, and effectiveness of this strategy are proven by the experimental data and chart. This strategy can achieve the desired results well, making users’cost lowest under cloud users’requirements of SLA negotiation.
