As the development of modern wireless communication technology goes faster and faster, the standards of communication also emerge endlessly. We have to admit that the traditional communication facilities are only suitable for single communication system. Because of some shortages like long period of development and high cost, traditional communication facilities can not go with the needs of the changing society. So it is the right time to show the advantage of SDR(Software Definition Radio). The special features of SDR, such as flexibility, openness, have made it the future direction of wireless technology.WCDMA is a 3G standard with the largest population of users and the most abundant terminal equipments. So it is of great practical significances to explore the WCDMA physical waveform on the SDR platform and it lays firm foundation on the development of exploring more waveform. Here are some of my main job contents.First of all, elaborate the current conditions of SDR and the WCDMA standard, according to the system demands, we have designed a overall frame of the wave and build the simulation model. Meanwhile, simulate the waveform parameters such as BER(bit error rate). We also divide several modules which is needed for the system implementation, illustrate the implementation principle of the module and figure out some design parameters of part modules.Then, based on the overall framework of design, we use the System Generator which is launched by Xilinx to the actual development of the waveform. Meanwhile we have illustrated the interface of each module and showed how to carry it out. After having verified the function of sub-module, we combine them together, and composes them into a transmitter and a receiver.In the end, download FPGA files to the SDR platform, the results verify the functions of waveform and at the same time test some index of it. The experiments have proved that the designed waveform can carry voice business, text chat and document transmission, and the transmission rate conformance to expectation.In this paper, the WCDMA physical waveform on the software radio has gone through engineering verification, it has been proved to have theoretical and practical value. It can be used as a teaching experiment waveform and can provide great valuable reference on exploring more waveform for the next step in the development of software radio platform.
