With simple structure, low cost and many other advantages, the passive RFID tags have been widely used in the application of radio frequency identification. As an important component of the passive RFID tag, the main function of AFE (analog front-end) circuit is energy conversion and data exchange. With the development of RFID technology, passive RFID tag has been extensively studied. Based on ISO/IEC15693 international standard protocol, this thesis aims to analyze RFID tag’s AFE circuit by circuit design, layout design and chip test. The thesis introduces the development of RFID technology in both domestic and abroad area at the beginning of the paper. As the second part, the paper lists the design rules of the ISO/IEC15693 international standard protocol in detail and proposes a design framework of AFE circuit for RFID tags. As the third part, the thesis describes the practical schematic structures and simulation results of Power-generated circuit, POR circuit, Clock-extraction circuit, Demodulation circuit and Modulation circuit. The forth part demonstrates a layout photo based on the standard GSMC 0.18um process. At the end of this thesis, a test report of the chip samples is given. The final test report shows that the proposed 13.56MHz RFID tag’s AFE circuit achieves the goals of low power consumption and low cost.
