Internet of things (IoT) industry has become an information network techniquewith the most strategic significance and development prospect. RFID (RadioFrequency Identification) technology is the key factor of the implementation of IoT,and it has a broad application prospect in the production, retail, logistics, transportation and other industry. At present, active tags of RFID have high standby power consumption, so the tagbattery life is very short. As a result, its application is limited. This paper thoughtfrom the point of view of reducing the standby power consumption, drew lessonsfrom the working principle of passive tags, and then put forward a kind of passivewake-up method, which greatly reduced the standby power consumption andincreased the tag battery life. The working principle of active RFID systems withpassive wake-up method is as follows. In the standby mode, tags are in the power offstate. When the reader wants to read tags, first it sends wake-up signals, and then therectenna of tags receives the wake-up signals and rectifies into DC open signal whichwill turn on the tag. Then the tag will communicate with the reader. After thecommunication finishes, the tag will go back into power off mode.In this paper, we tried three implementation plans to implement the active RFIDsystem with passive wake-up method and selected the third plan as the bestimplementation plan. In the third implementation plan, the wake-up signal frequencyis2.4GHz and the communication signal frequency is433MHz. The passive wake-upcircuit adopts microstrip rectenna using MPT (Microwave Power Transmission)Technology. The wake-up signal emission circuit adopts nRF24L01transceiver and2.4GHz wireless signal amplifier. Finally, the test of the system showed that thewake-up distance is up to30m, which can satisfy the practical applicationrequirement.
