With the rapid development of technologies of the Internet and computer graphics, and the continuous improvement of virtual reality technology, many colleges or universities have begun to build a virtual campus to better promote themselves. Through the virtual reality technology, real environment of universities is re-shown on the Internet in a virtually and tridimensional way, which plays a very importance role in expanding the schools’ popularity, establishing their good images, and improving the enrollment and employment ratios for the schools.With the design and implementation of campus X3 D virtual reality for Baise University as its direction, this thesis tries to develop, to design, to code, and to debug an architectural planning of virtual reality by adopting traditional and incremental software development models, based on which it creates a vivid three-dimensional architectural planning and designing scene of virtual reality. By collecting, sorting out, and generalizing the information from every corner of the campus, and in based on the campus’ s geographical coordinates, the thesis builds a complete three-dimensional model so as to let visitors to know the geographical environment and the general situation of the campus vividly, quickly, and comprehensively. This thesis also realizes 3D virtual campus map navigation through the construction of changing the campus’ s real scene into 3D virtual scene. In addition, it also applies such cutting-edge technologies as latest X3 D technology combining traditional virtual reality, scene design, geometric structure design, and architectural design in designing. This system adopting modular design idea and with rational structure and clear hierarchy finally realizes a software application with roaming and multiple interaction functions.The system realizes a vivid virtual campus for Baise University, from which virtual browse of campus landscapes and feeling of being personally on the campus through interactive function are achieved. With a superior virtual roaming system and a flexible and convenient interface, it is convenient to manage and use the virtual campus. Therefore, the system has a fairly high promotion value.
