With the development of economy and the improvement of people’s living standard, the security concept has been gradually integrated into all walks of life and people’s daily life. In the promotion of science and technology progress, security system has changed turn the world upside down change, from the initial to cable based analog video surveillance system in DVR(digital video recorder) digital video monitoring system based on, and then to today commonly used in network DVR based IP video monitoring system. Video monitoring system is developing towards digital, network development, the stability and the sharpness of the image has a higher requirement. In the monitoring field has rich products in the broadband network and the network, however, the narrow bandwidth product is scanty, in view of this, this paper designed a set of video surveillance system can adapt to the narrow bandwidth of network environment.The video server this topic research GRAINMEDIA technology GM8180 SoC based on H.264 code, with the powerful engine of CPU and dedicated, embedded Linux operation height of cutting, and the platform server uses TCP interactive link with the heartbeat mechanism to ensure reliable signaling interaction. Using H.264 video compression algorithm with frame extraction technology, to reduce unnecessary data transmission.
