With the rise and development of networking technology, radio frequency identification technology as the underlying foundation of the Internet of Things, has been widely used in the logistics management, warehouse management and IC card field. Research of reader IC and tag i.e., which are the two important aspects of RFID has a great significance to the development of Internet of things technology. At present, the low-frequency radio frequency identification(typical frequency 125 KHz)and high-frequency radio frequency identification(typical frequency 13.56MHz) has been got a mature application. Frequencies in the 860-960 MHz range UHF RFID technology is in rapid development applications stage. Including Agilent, Impinj, many well-known foreign company has been succeed to fabricate for the UHF RFID reader. In order to meet the market demand and the chip developing demand, many domestic chip institutions also accelerate research on UHF RFID reader chip.At first, this paper introduces the structure of the receive link in the reader chip. The object of the research is PGA and Σ-Δ ADC in the receive link. The main works are that:(1)PGA design: firstly, using matlab to perform the behavioral simulation of PGA, by designing the property input resistor to realize the 3dB gain step and meet the request of Linearity and noise. With TSMC 0.18μm CMOS process design PGA circuit.(2)Theoretical research of Σ-Δ ADC. First studied each order Σ-Δ modulator performance, combining chip system design requirements of Σ-Δ ADC and eventually chooses a reasonable Σ-Δ modulator structure: MASH2-2.(3)Bandgap reference circuit design: design the reference voltage needed in theΣ-Δ ADC circuit and low dropout voltage power supply for PGA and ADC.(4)According to the design of the Σ-Δ modulator architecture, using TSMC0.18μm CMOS process for modulator circuit design, and done the theoretic analysis for the integrator amplifier circuit. This design is for analog base-band circuit in the receive link in the UHF RFID reader chip. Design PGA and Σ-Δ ADC modules which are the two main modules of the chip module and peripheral circuit of them.
