Nowadays, with the rapid development of information technology, and the application promotion of PTN technology and OTN technology, packet optical transport network(POTN) comes into being so as to achieve efficient processing of packet traffic and large capacity transmission. Today, the research content about POTN network planning is not very a lot. However, planning and optimizing POTN can not only reduce cost and energy consumption to enhance the efficiency of the network, but also have an inportant significance on improving the reliability of network. Therefore, packet optical transport network planning and optimization will become a hot spot of cuttent research.In order to be able to better understand and master the technologies in the POTN network, and also provide effective suggestion when the operators plan the network, this paper designs and develops a planning and optimization software system based on POTN multilayer network, by combining with the actual application requirements of a large domestic enterprise.Some relevant technology about POTN are introduced in this paper. Then, this paper describles the overall architecture, specific method and planning process of the POTN software system. Finally, traffic path planning and survivability in POTN are discussed in detail and studied in depth.As a practical software system, the POTN planning and optimization software system divides the planning process six modules. This paper briefly describes the features of each module. Meanwhile, it describes the design and implementation of scenario planning module in detail. This scenario planning module mainly focuses on the traffic path planning and protection algorithm in POTN.Through the exploration and research of POTN network planning, the algorithm of the design of traffic path planning based on different planning goals in POTN is put forward. This algorithm can plan the path meeting the need of users to achieve the goal of reducing network cost and energy consumption. The last chapter of this paper studies in detail the survivability of the POTN network, and designs a method of establishing the ODUk ring and planning ring capacity. Meanwhile,this paper designs a approach about the human-computer interaction in the planning process of FRR protection and ODUk ring. This approach means that the users can constantly adjustment planning results according to his own will in the planning process. Finally, this paper comes up with a multilayer coordinated recovery mechanism with information feedback mechanism, which has the certain significance for heightening recovery efficiency of network.
