The development trend of the large capacity, multi-function and ultra-band of the modern communication system has higher requirements for the antenna. Reconfigurable antenna is the new research direction of antenna technology for it can effectively reduce the cost, volume and weight of communication system, and avoid the problem of electromagnetic compatibility in the meanwhile. As a result, this kind of antenna has good application prospect. Reconfigurable antenna technology is still in its infancy nowadays and need to be explored continually. So the paper study and design several reconfigurable antennas. The main work of this paper can be summarized as:1. The simulation of the PIN diode and folded slot antenna is done. A reconfigurable slot antenna based on PIN diode without bias circuit is designed. The frequency of the antenna can be converted among 2.13GHz,2.45GHz and 3.65GHz.2. The MEMS switch, power distributor and circularly polarized microstrip antenna are studied. A circularly polarized reconfigurable microstrip antenna with a working frequency of 1.575GHz is designed by using the dual feed method, and the polarization modes can be converted between the left-hand circular polarization and right-hand circular polarization. A hybrid reconfigurable (polarization reconfigurable and pattern reconfigurable) microstrip antenna with a working frequency of 2.4GHz is designed by using the way of multi-method. The polarization modes of the antenna consist of the linear polarization, left-hand circular polarization and the right-hand circular polarization. When the polarization of the antenna converse only between linear and circular polarization, the radiation pattern will change while the left-hand circular polarization and right-hand circular polarization conversion does not change the radiation pattern of the antenna.3. The frequency reconfigurable folding slot antenna, polarization reconfigurable antenna and mixing reconfigurable antenna were machined and tested. The test results of these antennas were analyzed separately showing that the design of the antenna can satisfy the engineering requirement.
