With the development of information technology, we put forward higher requirements of entire communication system and the various components in them, and the requirements contain the greater transmission capacity, the higher transmission efficiency, the richer functionality and the greater adaptability. The antenna as an indispensable part of the wireless communication system, require the further development. Reconfigurable antenna can adjust the work mode and status depending on the environment needs and work more efficiently in a complex environment. This article is based on this background and the reconfigurable antenna is studied.First, the research status of the reconfigurable antenna as well as the theory of the antenna, the microstrip antenna and the MEMS switch is introduced. Then, a MEMS switch for this article is simulated;Second, the basic rectangular microstrip antenna is studied and simulated and the effect of changing the parameters for the performance of the antenna provides a guideline for the follow-up antenna design;Third, a frequency reconfigurable antenna is designed and simulated which can change two different frequency in Ka-band; two bottom feed pattern reconfigurable antenna and one side feed pattern reconfigurable antenna are also designed and simulated which can change pattern clearly and maintain the stability of other parameters at the same time. Then, the side feed pattern reconfigurable antenna is improved and the structure is suitable for processing.Last, the processing and test of MEMS reconfigurable antenna is studied and discussed, a processing scheme which is suitable for the antenna design is proposed.
