In recent years, the Internet of Things(IOT) has become a cutting-edge area of constructing new economic growth patterns and shaping the state’s competitive strength. IOT has been viewed as a profitable new economic growth point of emerging industries of strategic importance. One of the key applications of IOT is smart poultry cultivation system. This system has changed the traditional way of poultry cultivation by relieving the staffs from heavy manual labor and enormously increasing the productivity. This thesis is based on the IOT project of Chengdu intelligent IOT Technology co.,LTD. The main objective is to design a smart poultry cultivation system. In chapter one, background information on IOT was introduced. The supporting technologies of IOT were covered in chapter two. In chapter three,After comparing the existing wireless sensor network protocols, ZigBee was selected as the communication standard and CC2530 as the development platform for underlying nodes. In this thesis, cluster structure was selected as topological structure of wireless sensor networks, based on the characteristics of large number, widely distributed multi-node breeding sheds and the requirement of energy saving. the design of peripheral circuit and communication nodes were demonstrated. The selection of gateway device for secondary development was described in this chapter. In this thesis, LEACH algorithm was adopted as the wireless sensor network routing algorithm, in order to prolong the network lifetime by Saving energy, and to ensure the practicality of the system. Despite the advantages in energy efficiency, there are still some issues on LEACH algorithm. In chapter four, an attempt to improve the algorithm was made by improving the choice of cluster head, cluster organizations and cluster routes. Simulations comparing to other classic clustering routing algorithms confirmed the achievement of energy saving. The testing on hardware and software systems was described in chapter five.
