In recent years, with MOOC swept across the world, the degree of attention to the MOOC in colleges and universities grow day by day at home and abroad. Successively appeared Coursera and Udacity, ed X abroad such world-class MOOC platform. In the three MOOC platforms, ed X platform based on open source characteristics got the attention of many developers. Open source ed X platform system has huge structure, with a large number of open source technology. In order to have a deep comprehend of the open ed X platform architecture, the project team deeply analyses it.This article first introduces the MOOC current development situation at home and abroad, and introduces the characteristics of the open source ed X platform in detail. Through the ed X platform development documentation have a detailed analysis to the platform. In the early stage of the platform work: installation, deployment, data migration, localization, development version deployment, IDE set up, etc., for a detailed description.Secondly, the ed X platform related research is summarized. The system structure of the platform, the use of related technologies, important component of platform, and analyzes the file structure. The important modules of platform are analyzed in detail. Finally, the parallel distributed processing platform is analyzed and summarized. On the basis of in-depth study, part of open-source ed X platform function is expanded。Open-source platform related extension method is introduced, for example: XBlock, JS Input, APIs, LTI, etc. According to the new requirements, a new subsystem and function module has been designed. In new system, relevant algorithms are studied, and use XBlock extension the subsystem. Finally, each stage of the program is tested.
