With the popularity of 4G networks mobile communication technology in the world, the fast construction of TD-LTE network which is led by China has made our wireless radio system into LTE era. In the context of large-scale deployment of TD-LTE networks, the complex propagation environment in urban is a great challenge for the quality of network. Optimized network planning in urban is the precondition and foundation of building new networks.In the TD-LTE network planning, the accuracy of the propagation model applied will decide the reasonableness of the network. In the thesis, based on the description of Okumura-Hata and COST231-Hata models, we highlight the UTD modelto be applied in the field strength prediction in urban environments. To predict the field strength accurately by using the aforementioned models, we calculate the path loss in urban enviroments with different path parameters as the variables and implmented by using MATLAB. The simulation results can be used to analyze not only the influence on the received field strength with different parameters, but also can find the differences among the propagation models on field strength prediction, which is of great significance for choosing propagation model in the TD-LTE network planning.As a network planning technology, network simulation can export the performance indexes of the TD-LTE network by setting up the parameters at the base stations, antennas and cells. In this thesis, the TD-LTD simulation is based on the existing 3G network and also co-existing with the 3G network. In the simulations, we set up the parameters of the base sations, antennas and cells o simulate the indexes of the coverage and capacity performance by using a wireless network planning software-Atoll. By comparisons with the TD-LTE network system requirements, the reasonable planning recommendations can be offered, which can be referred in the planning and optimization for TD-LTE networks.
