In a modern society which is experiencing rapid development and revolution in the areas of network and information technology, changes are taking place on information resources in terms of quantity, type, form of carrier, way of transmission, and scope. Based on Web 2.0 environment, the idea of "Library 2.0" adds new elements to the traditional information service model of library. It is necessary to maintain the "user-centered" idea, organize information with regard to the features of user’s needs, and design service models according to the features of user’s behavior. Accordingly, applying Web 2.0 related technologies to information service will improve the user’s efficiency of utilizing information."Tag" is a representative technology in Web 2.0 environment and also a new method of organizing and categorizing information. It organizes and transmits information in a new, open way by "tagging" information resources through the cooperation behaviors of multiple users. Tag technology not only includes the record of user’s stable recognition and interests, but also increases the speed of information transmission and provides a sharing platform of collective intelligence in the process of mass collaborative tagging. With its broad prospect of development, Tag technology will challenge traditional information service technologies and models.With regard to the advantages of tag technology in organizing and retrieving information, this thesis aims to study how to apply tag technology in the information service of digital library and to construct the theoretical model of information service of digital library on the basis of tag technology. This thesis combines literature research, comparative study, induction and deduction methods, summarizes the concepts, features and advantages of tag technology on the basis of the investigation and summarization of large number of domestic and international theories and application of tag technology, and conducts analysis and research on the functions of tag technology in the area of information service of digital library. As an innovative method of organizing and retrieving information, tag technology has a broad prospect in many information services of digital library, such as discipline navigation, intellectual information retrieval and personalized information recommendation. Accordingly, this thesis establishes a service model for digital library on the basis of tag technology, and builds up concrete process framework of the previous listed information services, and aims to provide a reference about implementation and optimization for digital libraries in social tagging system to carry out user-oriented information services.This thesis also predicts the application of tag technology in future information services of digital library. Being superior to traditional methods of organizing and retrieving information, tag technology will play an incomparable role in the space of information resources that is consisted of libraries.
