With the fast development of wireless mobile communication technology, the age of big data and cloud computing has been coming. There is an obvious change around us is the mobile terminal equipment we use that transforms again and again. Miniaturization、multi-function and stability have to be considered in the antennas design in the stage of 4G. However, there is a contradiction between miniaturization、 multi-function of the antenna and stability of it. And it’s a huge challenge to resolve this contradiction. In order to suit the requirement of modern mobile communication system, the mobile phone internal antennas should not only include 3G and 4G mobile communication systems operating bandwidth, but also should be compatible with 2G wireless mobile communication system operating bandwidth. Therefore, research and design of small-size、multi-band and stable mobile phone internal antenna is very significant.When the concept of Reconfigurable Antenna was presented, it has a lot improvement for research and design of small-size and multi-band internal handset antenna. At present, the design of this field for mobile phone application is only at the beginnings, and many problems hasn’t been solved. Thus, the research on reconfigurable antenna needs a huge challenging work.Firstly, The paper introduces the antennas’ origin and development, and makes a comparative analysis for several types of common handset antennas. Also, the paper simply introduces the LDS (Laser Direct Structuring) technology which is widely applied to mobile phone antennas.Then, the paper introduce the basic speculative knowledge of antennas: radiation pattern, directivity, gain, radiation efficiency, input impedance and bandwidth. Also, the paper simply introduces two kinds of RF switches, and the internal antennas miniaturization and multi-band technology is summarized.Once more, According to internal handset antenna design difficulties and hot spots nowadays, the paper proposed a novel internal handset antenna: coupled-fed ground loop antenna, its frequency bands include:GSM850, GSM900, DCS 1800, PCS1900, UMTS2100, LTE2300, WLAN2400, LTE2500. With the basis of roconfigurable mobile pbone internal antennas the paper presents a new desian whichcan achieve frequency reconfigurable function by change the position of feeding point. The antenna can cover eight frequency bands:GSM850/GSM900/GPS1575 /DCS1800/PCS1900/UMTS2100/LTE2300/WLAN2400 At last,ConcLusion:It’s very significant to research the mobile phone internal antennas and reconfigurable antennas. At last,the paper points out the deficiencies of the designed antennas and the future development of the mobile phone internal antennas.
