The development of communication technology changes rapidly, and the new technology is emerged almost every year. However, different technologies have different occasions where they are used, these new technologies may not be suitable for all situation. MSTP(Multi-Service Transport Platform) and traditional SDH are applied widely in Shangrao Power Supply Company and its seven companies. MSTP technology still has its advantages in the delivery of TDM services and Ethernet services; what is more, the process to ALL IP in the optical transmission network of Shangrao Power Supply Company is still very slow. The services demanded are still the dedicated 2M line, video monitoring and MIS systems with low bit rate, dispatching data network and POS services of data communication network.The SDH optical transmission system existed in Shangrao Power Supply Company has been operating for more than ten years, and it can’t satisfy the demand of development of grid service anymore. So the establishment of a transmission system which can cover Shangrao city is necessary. The status of optical Transmission network in Shangrao Power Supply Company is analyzed thoroughly and access services of the present system is introduced. Meanwhile, the services traffic carried by power system communication networks in Shangrao is analyzed and predicted in this paper, which is regarded as an important criterion for allocation and design of power system communication networks in Shangrao. In the preconditions of making full use of the available circuit to reduce the investment of project, and ensuring a steady transition from the existing local optic ring network to the new optic networks, different types of MSTP equipment of the same company are applied in the Shangrao city and the six counties, and a new MSTP optical transmission network covered Shangrao region is realized. Load mode for dispatching data network, data communication network, intranet & internet and other important services are designed and implemented. A new network clock synchronization system is designed and realized, the stability of service transmission is improved. The timing loop is avoided by timing flow planning and reasonable allocation of the clock. According to the requirements of secondary system security protection for electric power system, authentication and isolative protection measures are applied and the security of the system are improved.The integrated optical transmission system for Shangrao Power Supply Company proposed in this paper has been implemented and successfully put into use. It can meet the demands to access various kinds of services. It verified the plan of integration optical transmission system using MSTP technology in Shangrao region is feasible.
