In the early time, computer rooms provided users with Internet access and date sharing, which is thought to be the prototype of modern data centers. However, as human’s daily life depends on network and information more and more, data centers are required to provide higher speed Internet access and sophisticated functions. Then the scale of data centers becomes larger and larger. Considering the important role they play in modern times, the running stability and reliability becomes higher and higher. A large amount of none-IT devices are installed in data centers in order to ensure it. Most energy is consumed by these none-IT devices, energy efficiency of data centers causes more and more attention of relevant researchers. This thesis analyzes the original reasons of the energy efficiency problem in data centers by understanding the development process of it, makes a classification of different kinds of loads in data centers, collects statistics of different energy consumption. After comparison of different power supply modes, this thesis obtains the advantage of HVDC power supply system and advises it the first choice in power supply in data centers. On the basis of the above, this thesis researches the key technologies in HVDC, analyzes the compatibility issues of power loads, puts forward the application of hybrid energy storage in HVDC, researches the mathematical model and control method of it, simulates in PSCAD and carries out experiment. Finally, this thesis discusses several energy efficiency evaluating indicators of data centers, compares the energy efficiency of UPS, LVDC and HVDC, gives some suggestions on energy efficiency enhance.
