RDDC(Redundancy), is a way to protect the network in the real network system. When the working channel breaks off or turns to a certain extend degraded performance, the system will automatically switch the working channel to the back-up channel. When the system configuration is initialized, Network self- healing can quickly help detect the link-failures in the network and protect the network business not to be broken down. For its very short time(less than 50 Ms), the network has a self-healing function which can greatly improve the network survivability. It is also very effective for the photovoltaic element failures in the network-device node. Link redundancy has become one of the basic characteristics of the node device that must be supported.The main content and features are as follows:1) Firstly, the paper analyzes the operating mechanism and principles of link redundancy and introduces the transitions of the link state machine in detail. And then this paper follows the published ITU-T G.841 to design and implement the linear 1+1 and 1:1 protection in order to provide reliable and efficient service assurance on the network link.2) For a well-known manufacturer of ha rdware architecture, this paper will use the method of distributed design. The control flow logic runs on the main board and the business flow logic runs on the interface board in order to increase the transmission efficiency. Mean time the system provides a back-up board for the main board. When the main board cannot work normally because of failure, the back-up board will automatically upgrade to be the main board and continue the business without gaps to improve the system reliability.3) The system is based on open source Linux kernel, so that this project could take fully use of the Linux’s multi- threading, kernel seizing and efficient task scheduling advantages, as well as Linux open source code quickly upgrading, platform supporting good environment to make the system more stable and reliable.4) Test the functionality and performance and other aspects to verify its validity and reliability for the link redundancy designed in this paper.Currently link redundancy has been combined into this company’s network system and deployed to the high- level routers. And in the actual environment. It works well on the point of the protection of the critical links in the network.
