The reliability becomes an important factor needs to be considered in the network design and analysis. In this paper, network topology is focused. Reliability modeling and analysis for Torus is particularly completed and reliability modeling tool for typical network topology and layer network is built. In general, the major research work of this paper includes the following:Some research works and evaluation metrics of network reliability are summarized firstly in this paper. Based on the analysis of network orgnization, reliability models of some typical topologies are introduced by Markov models respectively. Matlab tool is then used to solve Markov models and the results of these models with different topologies are compared. The conclusion shows that Torus is a better topology choice because of its relatively higher reliability and lower implementation cost. Besides these, giving reliability results and plotting reliability curves automaticly are implemented by using Matlab engine operations in C environment. Namely, using C and Matlab tool to solve reliability models jointly is realized. The concept ring failure based on link failure is introduced in order to reduce computation in the network modeling. Reliability with unidirectional / bidirectional links and non-repairable / repairable links are modelled respectively. Based on the analysis of models of network with dependent link failures, reliability problems of Torus under the condition that link failures are dependent is analysised. To verify the analysis results, a simulation tool for network reliablity-NRS is designed and implemented. The simulator can be used to model reliability of several network topologies referred above and the reliability of layer network. By experimrnts, the simulation results are tally with analysis conclusion. So the validity of the models above is verified.
