With the development and the popularization of the internet technology, network mediawhich formed on the basis of the internet have made great development. However, which incontrast to the network media development is the decline of traditional print media. Networkmedia caused the traditional print media audience shunt, advertising revenue decline,combined with the internal competition of the press heating up, the development of the printmedia is very difficult. Under the new media technology environment, looking for a new wayout for the press is imminent. The model of crowdfunding is becoming more and more maturein the field of economic, which crossovered to journalism in2008and injected new vitalityinto the traditional press. The appearance of crowdfunding journalism brings inspirations, forthe press where to go in the internet age.This article takes the crowdfunding journalism as the breakthrough point, analyses thebackground of crowdfunding journalism from the angle of the changing media environment,which resulted from the development of network media, analyses the operation process and itscharacteristics, which different from the traditional journalism: crowdfunding journalism isvery open; the investor can reap the rewards and take an active participation in it; theaudience pay for the news; it’s often an exclusive news report and its production cycle is long.By comparing to the traditional ways of journalism production, the article analyzes thesignificance of crowdfunding journalism in four aspects: the innovation of journalismproduction mode, repositioning the disseminator and audience role, the transformationof media management idea and the media function regression.According to the description of the situation of the development which crowdfundingjournalism in China, the papers in the second part comes to the conclusion that itsdevelopment has encountered bottleneck period, and analyzes the reason that thecrowdfunding journalism suffered the bottleneck period in our country. In terms of macroenvironment, the characteristics of socialist journalism in China, is the primary factorhindering the development of the crowdfunding journalism. Secondly, the media consumption habit of the audience in China needs to be changed. We free to receive information for a longtime, let the crowdfunding journalism which invested with payment encounter theinacclimatization. Thirdly, the audience’s degree of knowledge is low, the crowdfundingjournalism concept has not yet deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. It’s also the mainfactor that leads to the development of the crowdfunding journalism slowly. Finally, thecrowdfunding journalism platform management and supervision mechanism in our country isnot perfect, let the crowdfunding journalism loose the development advantage.The paper in the third part mainly analyzes the advantages and risks of practicingcrowdfunding journalism in our country. The further improvement of the internet penetrationand the expansion of the internet users let the potential audience of the crowdfundingjournalism have a bigger base, also let more and more audience to become the crowdfundingjournalism users become possible. The online payment platform is becoming more and morevarious and perfect, which provides great convenience for the cash flow link in thecrowdfunding journalism. Of course, we see the much good news to the press which thecrowdfunding journalism brought, at the same time, we also should watch out for the possiblerisks. The thesis thinks, because of the lack of the reporters’ and editors’ checking in thetraditional news production mode, the quality of the crowdfunding journalism is high or not,need to be tested. Secondly, due to it’s a special way that the crowdfunding journalism use themoney of the audience to make the news, leading to the crowdfunding journalism has the riskof becoming paid news.After having a clear understanding on present situation, advantage, disadvantage and riskof crowdfunding journalism. The article presents several countermeasures for thedevelopment of crowdfunding journalism in China in the last part, puts forward some feasiblesuggestions from three aspects: change business model, focus on promoting crowdfundingjournalism and perfect platform operation rules.
